Frequently Asked Questions

Incorporating Neurofeedback training into your psychotherapy practice allows you to have a more holistic clinical approach, achieve better outcomes, and grow your psychotherapy practice revenue. The combined approach of psychotherapy and Neurofeedback training can benefit a variety of clinical presentations, as the two therapies complement and potentiate each other.

Neurofeedback training combines 60 years of neuroscience research and cutting-edge technology. By adding Neurofeedback training to your toolbox, you can help clients engage directly with their brain activity, which results in improved self-regulation patterns impacting their emotional, behavioural, and physical health. Neurofeedback training is non-invasive and can be used in addition to other psychotherapy tools to improve and optimize brain function at any age.

Completing the introductory course provides a theoretical foundation of core concepts and principles of brain organization and self-regulation. Group discussions and hands-on training offer a solid grasp of the Cygnet software and a good understanding of its clinical applicability. Clinicians get to train each other over several sessions, becoming comfortable with the approach and the technology, allowing them to dive into clinical work right after completing the 40-hour course. As is the case with any psychotherapy tool, after the introductory course, mentoring and more advanced courses can further refine your clinical skill and take your Neurofeedback practice to the next level.

The Steps To Implementing ILF Neurofeedback Into Your Practice:

  1. Take the ILF Neurofeedback Introductory Course.
  2. Acquire equipment.
  3. Practice with clients to gain experience.
  4. Sign up for a mentoring session to discuss difficult cases, get advice on best practices, learn from other clinicians’ experience and consolidate the critical thinking skills needed to make the best clinical decisions.
  5. Practice for at least 6 month before taking other, more advanced courses to acquire more in-depth understanding of the ILF processes in the Advanced ILF 1-day training course, or courses on other training modalities within this approach like Synchrony as a brainwave-guided meditation practice and Alpha-Theta for trauma processing and resolution.
  6. Continue periodic mentoring to discuss cases, but also to stay up-to-date with the newest developments in this field.

Health and mental health practitioners, with a Masters or above, who wish to add neurofeedback to their clinical practice.

Learn About Neurofeedback & How It Can Benefit Your Practice

Practical Aspects of Integrating Neurofeedback in Your Practice

The webinar discusses the steps and costs involved in implementing ILF Neurofeedback into a clinical practice. It provides an overall estimate of the time and financial investment that come with it, and also an estimate of the return on investment based on the number of clients and number of sessions a clinician would do with their clients. A complex PTSD client case study is presented to showcase how neurofeedback would fit into a psychotherapy practice and how it would be integrated with all the other interventions a therapist might use.
